 Office Procedures You and the Orthodontist
Records At your second visit, full diagnostic records will be taken including plaster study models of the teeth, digital photographs of your face and teeth, and digital x-rays. This information is used to develop your custom treatment plan. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care. Consultation After Dr. Loo or Dr. Yen has evaluated your records, we discuss your treatment with you in detail, including the cost for your particular case. Regular Appointments Our regular office hours are Monday to Friday and one Saturday per month from 8:30am to 5:30pm. We are closed for lunch from 12:30pm-1:30pm. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and trust our patients to extend the same courtesy to us. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please contact our office 48 hours in advance so that this time may be offered to a patient on our waiting list. Cancel only in an emergency, as it may be difficult to reschedule you in the same time slot since our appointments are made 4-8 weeks in advance. Although a growing number of our patients are adults, the majority of our patients are school age. To be as fair as possible, and to ensure that children miss the least amount of school, appointments are made in the following manner. The few long appointments are usually made during school hours, while the shorter adjustment appointments are made after school. If possible, we will try to schedule longer appointments on school professional days. After school and Saturday appointments are in particular demand. Therefore, any missed appointments of those requiring more than 30 minutes of time will only be scheduled for weekdays before 3:30pm. Fees  The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient’s problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We do not accept assignment from insurance plans, but we will assist in filing the necessary papers to your insurance company. Financial Arrangements Orthodontic treatment is an excellent investment in the overall dental, medical and psychological well being of children and adults. Financial considerations should not be an obstacle to obtain this important health service. Being sensitive to the fact that all people have different needs in meeting their financial obligations, we provide several different payment options. In orthodontic cases, the fee depends on the severity of the problem, the type of appliances used and the services of the doctor. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. Payment Options Our flexible payment options are discussed at the consultation appointment. The most common option includes an initial payment of 25-30% of the total fee, followed by a monthly payment plan for the balance of the fee, and is offered with no interest over a 10-20 month period. This option is flexible and may be tailored to suit your financial situation. For your convenience, we accept cash and post-dated cheques. The monthly payment plan is designed to provide you with a deferred payment schedule; therefore, these payments are consecutive and continue despite missed appointments and over vacation periods. Our administrative staff will assist in the preparation of your insurance documents. |
